  Reggie's tale  29/08/08

  Please meet Reggie

Reggie's retired owners did not want to give Reggie up but council officals incharge of the o a p complex where they reside decided they new better and gave the instruction that Reggie could no longer reside with his family who had cared for him up to the grand old age of 9 YEARS old .

The family tried very hard to find a solution for Regg even putting him in boarding kennels since earlier on this year , then about 2 or three weeks ago it all came to a head, the kennels that were boarding Reggie could keep him no longer as they were about to be sold, which left his owners with no option but to have him put to sleep . rescue's were contacted but at Reggies age what chance did he have .

Then we here at Z.R.R were contacted [ by someone I can only discribe as Reggie's gaurdian angel ] with just a few days to go before Reggie met his fate , and of course how could I refuse , Reggie is now here at Z.R.R safe and well AND THE TASK IS NOW TO FIND HIM A NICE RETIRENMENT HOME where he can spend his days doing what dogs do best , lazing about in comfort .

Reggie is quite a fit and active 9 yr old , loves to play tug and go for nice walks , its our aim here at Z.R.R to make sure Regg lives out his life to the full wether it be with us here at the rescue or in a home, theres one thing for sure , at 9 yrs of age and through no fault of his own this lad will not end up just another statistic .

  Seren's story

29/8/08Update by Serens foster mom  Jackie

Seren has been with us for 5 weeks now and she is just simply lovely. This young girlie hasn’t had the best start in life but you would never know it if you met her. She’s ultra friendly, affectionate, really eager to please, great with other dogs, fine with cats and loves people. In fact there’s nothing bad I can say about her she just has the best temperament and personality.

When she came to us she’d recently had her first cruciate operation and was coping well, but just four days after arriving her other leg went and she was operated on the very next day – and spayed at the same time. She came home to us that night on a stretcher and despite being in great pain was still her lovely self. Seren has since made good progress and I think that’s down to her attitude, she’s always happy and loves to be involved with everything. She has a close bond with my youngest dog and they play from first thing in the morning till late evening – in between lots of snoozes – but it’s as if they both know she’s not supposed to run around and they wrestle and play tug while Seren lays on the floor.

Seren has two short walks a day and will stop and sit down if she gets tired so we all stop and sit and when she’s ready we’ll carry on. This has been good for her as she lives as part of a pack of four and wants to do what they do, she also gets to meet people and other dogs when we’re out – she also gets to sniff for bunnies and squirrels and loves to sit and watch the pigs on a farm we walk past on out local heath land. Everyone who meets her thinks she’s lovely – even the people who approach her apprehensively.

When the time comes and she’s ready to go to a new home, I think she would be best in a home with another dog and with where she isn’t left for long periods of time.

I would personally like to say a big thank you to Brian for his generosity and perfect surgery and also to Cameron for giving Seren great care and all the nurses at Melton Vets in Woodbridge, Suffolk – you’re the best!

I would also like to say a huge thank you on behalf of Seren (she can’t type yet) to zepthedep rottweiler rescue for not only saving her life but for funding ALL of her surgery and medication without even a second of thought to consider the cost that’s been involved. Without Z.R.R Seren would just be a pile of dust now.

As I’m on my soap box now I’d also like to plead with anyone reading this who hasn’t got their dog insured – PLEASE DO IT NOW! You never know what’s going to happen and at the end of the day it will be the dog that suffers and if there’s no Zepthedep to come to their aid, then they will simply end up dead – and that’s just not fair.

UPDATE 10/07/08

Seren was seen by the vet due to lameness. After having an examination and X-Rays on her hind legs, it was found that Seren had a ruptured cruciate ligament in her right leg. When the owners were told about this problem and how much it would cost for surgery, they decided to put Seren to sleep . We at Z.R.R were contacted and the rest is history .

Luckily Alphavet Veterinary Centre, thought that this was not the only answer so tried to help Seren, they decided that re-homing Seren was the best answer. So after a few frantic phone calls , and only an hour or two to spare , thier search for a rottweiler rescue to step in and save Seren led them to Zepthedep Rottweiler Rescue , where once again Z.R.R steped up to the plate and agreed to pay for Seren's treatment and look after her untill she is ready and find her a new home when the time is right. The owners agreed with this decision and signed her over to us. Seren has now had her operation to fix the ruptured cruciate ligament on the 27th June thanks to ALPHAVET' s and thier dedicated staff she is doing well , whilst being in hospital, Seren has shown nothing but love for all the staff and she is a firm favourite with everyone. Seren is now recovering well , while with us here at Z.R.R she will continue to recieve all the love and care she needs to recover from this op before that special home is found for her .

Well all has not been going to well with Seren , the vets who have been looking after her , have had to put a drain in her wound for the last week as an infection looks like it has set in , and keep her on antibiotics . And she is now awaiting the time when the vets say she is ready to come home here to us at Z.R.R and stright into her foster home with auntie Jackie and family , in the meen time she is staying with the vets where she continues to be a firm favourite with all she meets . Poor little Seren realy is going through the wars at the moment , but im sure with all the dedication and of the vets and thier staff , and the love and commitment she will recieve from all us her at Z.R.R this girl will soon be on the mend and find the loving home she so rightly deserves .
